Dwarf Rabbits - Lops
The English lop is the oldest breed of all Dwarf rabbits. In mid-19th century, they were classified as follows, according to the position of the ears: Oar Lop, Half Lop, Horned Lop, and Flat Lop. The Oar Lop features ears, held at a 45 degree angle. The Half Lop's ears are inclined to one side. Horned Lops have forward hanging ears. Flat Lops' ears are in an up-and-forward position.
Many breeders favor Lops. The first lop-eared rabbit brought to the University of Chicago from England was in 1948.
